What is The Community ECHO?

The Community ECHO is an electronic, community-based observation system that facilitates neighborhood watch activities using advanced surveillance technologies. The Community ECHO mirrors these efforts to assist in crime prevention and evidence recovery. Deployed in business, entertainment, shopping, and recreation areas, the Community ECHO also provides public awareness seminars to educate the public and business owners on effective surveillance practices and offers economical access to products and services.

Why would I want The Community ECHO in my community?

Statistical data from 2013-2023 shows significant crime reduction in areas where Wide Area Surveillance Systems (WASS) have been deployed in major cities’ business and entertainment districts. These systems not only reduce crime but also increase efficiency in crime, accident, and hazard reconstruction, providing critical information for both past and ongoing events.

Who Controls The Community ECHO?

Each participating community monitors and maintains all activities related to The Community ECHO through an appointed committee. This committee interacts with law enforcement and oversees The Community ECHO’s implementation and operation in their neighborhood.

Will Big Brother and Law Enforcement be monitoring me?

No. The Community ECHO is managed by the local ECHO Committee, whose primary functions are crime deterrence, prevention, and evidence recovery. While the system can integrate with law enforcement’s central monitoring stations, this would only occur with the ECHO Committee’s approval.

How does The Community ECHO interact with Law Enforcement?

The Community ECHO operates within all state and federal laws for electronic video surveillance and mimics neighborhood watch crime prevention efforts. Information gathered for evidence recovery is reviewed by the local ECHO Committee in collaboration with law enforcement to determine its relevance.

Is The Community ECHO “secure” and “un-hackable” by outsiders?

While no electronic system is entirely “un-hackable,” the Community ECHO incorporates multi-layered security technologies and rigorous information management policies. Security standards from government and military environments are applied to protect against unauthorized access.

Is The Community ECHO an electronic enforcement revenue-generating program?

No. The Community ECHO is not designed to operate like traffic red light cameras or automated radar ticketing systems. It does not generate revenue but focuses on safety and crime prevention.

What about Privacy Rights to me and my property?

Surveillance laws protect individual privacy rights, which vary between public and private spaces. The Community ECHO adheres to these laws, ensuring individual rights are not violated. Unlike some systems, ECHO provides video with no additional data, ensuring privacy is maintained.

Will live or recorded video be shared with other communities?

Typically, no. However, under local or federal warrants, information from multiple communities may be required.
ECHO can operate in a closed network environment to maintain privacy and integrity.

How is The Community ECHO funded?

The Community ECHO is primarily funded through private contributions from businesses and the public within the community, supplemented by government grants if available.

Who manages and maintains The Community ECHO?

The Community ECHO is overseen by The Community ECHO Group, local businesses, including surveillance system integrators, electrical contractors, and other local service providers. The recommended products are from reputable manufacturers with extensive service networks.
